Composition Prize 2026 – Resonating Body Academy

1st International Resonating Body Composition Prize 2026

✨ Exploring resonance through sound, body, and breath ✨

As part of the Resonating Body Festival, we invite composers from around the world to submit a new work for solo flute exploring the artistic and acoustic possibilities of resonance.

Resonance may be understood in many ways – acoustic, physical, spatial, emotional, or conceptual. We encourage composers to explore the flute not only as an instrument, but as an extension of breath, body, and vibration.

The Resonating Body Festival explores the connection between breath, body, and sound, inspired by the artistic research presented in the book Resonating Body.

The selected work will be performed at the Resonating Body Festival and published by Trubcher Editions, publisher of the book Resonating Body

Requirements

One submission per composer

Instrumentation: Solo flute

Duration: maximum 5 minutes (Works exceeding the maximum duration will not be considered.)

No age limit

Submission: one score (PDF)

Optional: audio mock-up or recording (not required)

The work should be technically accessible to advanced amateur flutists and should prioritize sound, resonance, and musical expression

The winning composer must provide a performance-ready score and parts.

Submitted works must be unpublished and not previously performed.

Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of 65€ must be paid upon submission.

Composers are welcome to explore resonance through breath sounds, multiphonics, singing and playing, body resonance, or spatial sound concepts, provided that the piece remains performable by a single flutist.

Works may include:

  • extended techniques
